Basically, I posted that 2 more reps are being put on the chopping block here in Colorado.  I happen to agree that the Colorado Senate, et al, has been pretty draconian in its approach to guns and gun ownership.  So here is a short back and forth that happened to me yesterday.I am thinking that I need to know more around this subject, or stand firm in a narrower channel (to use the water metaphor).  I don't care which side of the debate you are on, where did this go off the rails after my originating post?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------It is about time! We The People need to send a message, loud and clear, to our representatives. Either represent while upholding your oath or be fired!  http://bit.ly/13laj2aThe Colorado Secretary of State today signed off on recall petitions for two more Democrats, Sens. Nobody I know did! And for the record I have friends from all walks of life, and I do mean all. Convicted criminals have lost that right. But who is to say who is mentally unstable? If I get depressed for a week and talk to my doctor about it, does that make me unstable? How about a month? Or if someone report's that I disagree with the President and he decides, does that make me unstable, and therefore incapable of owning a firearm?20 hours ago via mobile · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Kittery Barrows I have a HUGE problem with a President that repeatedly says 90% of America when appears that he arbitrarily pulled that number out of who knows where!19 hours ago via mobile · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------John Martin When it comes to the question "Would you support or oppose a law requiring background checks on people buying guns at gun shows or online?" Yes, the polls indicate that approx 90% of the respondents support that.19 hours ago · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------John Martin No, depression and disagreeing with the President don't constitute grounds for making one flagged for being barred from buying a weapon. It takes more than that. James Holmes, for example, did cross that threshold.19 hours ago · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Kittery Barrows Show me the data. It is good to know that you have little issue with background checks on verified violent criminals who would love to buy weapons online or at gun shows. But the NRA and a lot of its fanatical adherents don't want any checks on these convicted felons. And what does that tell you?19 hours ago · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Keith Barrows That you apply the same logic you accuse others of. To get the petition completed you need 25% of the people who voted to sign. All 4 districts did do this. In those districts, unless my math is wrong, we don't have 90% in favour as you state. Now a question: How many people and in what areas were polled? My next question will be formulated on that answer.19 hours ago via mobile · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------John Martin Keith, this was a nationwide poll, not a sample of a few choice districts in Colorado.19 hours ago · Like----------------------------------------------------------------------------------John Martin Let's pose the question this way...
