Obamacare faces new legal challenge: Its 'tax' still violates the ConstitutionThe Supreme Court saved Obamacare by deeming the law's individual mandate a 'tax.' But in that case, the law violates the Constitution's Origination Clause, which says all tax bills must originate in the House, not the Senate. Letting the law stand sets a dangerous precedent.http://news.yahoo.com/obamacare-faces-legal-challenge-tax-still-violates-constitution-151319788.html

With tax day and IRS forms fresh in their minds, most Americans might think the US tax system couldn’t get any more daunting.

Original Post from J.J. Kowalski:

51 percent of Democrats responded they would give up personal freedom to reduce the threat of terror, compared to 36 percent opposed.

Forty-seven percent of Republicans, on the other hand, opposed giving up freedoms, compared to only 43 percent in favor.

Yet independents were the most resistant, with only 29 percent willing to sacrifice freedom, while 58 percent stood opposed.

Basically, I posted that 2 more reps are being put on the chopping block here in Colorado.  I happen to agree that the Colorado Senate, et al, has been pretty draconian in its approach to guns and gun ownership.  So here is a short back and forth that happened to me yesterday.I am thinking that I need to know more around this subject, or stand firm in a narrower channel (to use the water metaphor).  I don't care which side of the debate you are on, where did this go off the rails after my originating post?----------------------------------------------------------------------------------It is about time! A little background for myself:  I am a US citizen, descended from about 1/3 of the people who came here on the Mayflower way back when.  I spent 13 years in the US Marine Corps, work to pay the bills and growing my own business.  My political leanings are to the right but not anywhere as extreme as the real vocal ones I've met.  I am a firm believer in our Constitution and Bill of Rights and regard those as the supreme law of the land.  I would say that about 60% of my friends could care less about the information in said documents and could not even tell you what was really in them.  This does not bother me most of the time.  However, when I post an opinion and am descended upon by even one left leaning person and cannot seem to defend my stance I start to worry about my abilities.  I'm not here to win arguments.  I am here to learn how to stop running in circles and feel comfortable in my own skin.  I know what my opinions are, I know when they are grounded in fact, I don't always have the facts at hand.  I find this even extends into my day job as a software developer and my business venture.  So, I will create a new space here to let each of us post past debates and then use the comments to start running through the branches of conversation that were travelled or not travelled and *why the direction was supportive or detracting.

"History affords us many instances of the ruin of states, by the prosecution of measures ill suited to the temper and genius of their people. The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy. An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy... These measures never fail to create great and violent jealousies and animosities between the people favored and the people oppressed; whence a total separation of affections, interests, political obligations, and all manner of connections, by which the whole state is weakened."--Benjamin Franklin, Emblematical Representations

"Our own Country's Honor, all call upon us for a vigorous and manly exertion, and if we now shamefully fail, we shall become infamous to the whole world. Let us therefore rely upon the goodness of the Cause, and the aid of the supreme Being, in whose hands Victory is, to animate and encourage us to great and noble Actions - The Eyes of all our Countrymen are now upon us, and we shall have their blessings, and praises, if happily we are the instruments of saving them from the Tyranny mediated against them. Let us therefore animate and encourage each other, and shew the whole world, that a Freeman contending for Liberty on his own ground is superior to any slavish mercenary on earth."--George Washington, General Orders, 1776

"My ardent desire is, and my aim has been ... to comply strictly with all our engagements foreign and domestic; but to keep the United States free from political connections with every other Country. To see that they may be independent of all, and under the influence of none. In a word, I want an American character, that the powers of Europe may be convinced we act for ourselves and not for others; this, in my judgment, is the only way to be respected abroad and happy at home."--George Washington, letter to Patrick Henry, 1775

So many sites to post to, how do you manage them all?I have accounts at Pinterest, Tumblr, Facebook, G+, Blogger (barely touched!), ASP.NET Blogs (also barely touched) along with Picasa and Flickr.  I am finding I write short entries or comment on an image rather than post lengthy blog entries.  However, I am getting tired of any conversation fragmenting over all of these channels.I started on a way to kinda of gather them all up into one place on my personal domain but no one goes to that page AND the APIs seem to keep shifting.  <bleh />What are you doing to overcome this fragmentation?

Original Post from Keith Barrows:

We managed to get the insulation up in our "green room" and now I can place the starts in sunlight!  I am replanting all the ones that went leggy on me.  Still - so much to learn!

I am hoping that I will be able to grow in here through the winter.  I am planning on an upside down tomato or two, lettuce, spinach, all the herbs we can grow and who knows what else.

This room used to be our back patio.  It is completely covered so I added the 2 new walls to enclose the space.  It has 2 interior windows to help maintain temperature.  The end window (in these pics) is in a wall nearly 10' tall.  After the interior wall coverings go on it will have a wall mounted rack system running floor to ceiling and its own grow light (mainly for winter time).  I figure I can probably set up 5 or 6 shelves at 2'x6' (or just slightly smaller) giving me 60-70 sq ft of growing space - on just that end wall!

I've started some seeds inside in those Peat Pots that expand when you add water.  Well, they sprouted and certain ones like all 3 types of tomatoes have wilted and died.  When they came up they were really, really leggy and seemed to want to just keep reaching to the sky and never put on any mass.  Today, they are all wilted and lying across the dirt.  Any ideas?
