"(Phys.org)—One of the key components of quantum communication is quantum teleportation, a technique used to transfer quantum states to distant locations without actual transmission of the physical carriers. Quantum teleportation relies on entanglement, and it has so far been demonstrated between single photons, between a photon and matter, and between single ions. Now for the first time, physicists have demonstrated quantum teleportation by entangling two remote macroscopic atomic ensembles, each with a radius of about 1 mm.
The researchers, led by Jian-Wei Pan of the Hefei National Laboratory for Physical Sciences at the Microscale, the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, and the University of Heidelberg in Germany, have published their paper on "Quantum teleportation between remote atomic-ensemble quantum memories" in a recent issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences."

I have pretty big and exciting news: another exoplanet has been directly seen in a picture taken by astronomers! We know of well over 800 planets, but fewer than a dozen have actually been seen in photos. Planets are dim and stars bright, making this a very difficult observation.

It has become one of the major attractions around Chongqing for people interested in primitive scenic areas, gorges, wildlife and caves. Wulong is one of the regions named on the World Heritage List’s South China Karst. Other areas named are Libo Karst and Shilin Karst. Three sites in Wulong are thought to be the most important. They are Furong Cave, the Three Natural Bridges, and the Houping Tiankengs.
